About the farm
Mirela and Adrijana Peresin see their tourist farm that lies at the western-most part of Brda, right next to the border with Italy, which specialises in healthy living, as a farm where guests can experience a clean environment and healthy food produced at home.
The farm is called Breg. They like to say: “We pick it and we cook it!” And because it is also healthy to exercise, the farm is especially friendly to cyclists. They rent bikes, have a bike storage facility, have a business relationship with a bike repair shop and are able to provide advice on the choice of cycling routes – both on the Slovenian and the Italian side of Brda, on the plains and on the hills. “Some take a ride to Čedad for a cup of coffee, while others climb Mount Matajur and Mount Korada.”
The hosts cook in the kitchen in a typical farmhouse with a smaller room on the ground floor featuring a fireplace and a large room with a glazed terrace on the upper floor that boasts a view over the landscape of Goriška Brda.
The dishes they prepare are based on old recipes typical of Goriška Brda and the Friuli region and characterised by many herbs. Their specialty is barley dishes with vegetables, seasonal minestrone soups, frtalja omelettes, the Friuli friko, grandma’s toč with prosciutto and polenta, seasonal cherry, chestnut and pumpkin dishes. In the summer of 2013, they started using the lavender growing in their own field for many different applications.
