“Stay a while friend, don’t just pass by, Milan serves wonderful wine!” Two Milans actually serve good wine, the older and the younger; both of them are winegrowers, wine cellar men and sommeliers.

On the hillsides of Ljutomersko-ormoške gorice, where the heavy clayey soil yields top quality grapes, the Hlebec family owns more than 40,000 vines of the varieties Chardonnay, Sauvignon, Rhine Riesling, Muscat Ottonel, Riesling Italico and the traditional Furmint. Milan, one or the other, will take you on a tour of the richly stocked wine cellar employing modern technology for wine production. The wines are aged according to the traditional method in oak barrels, barrique barrels and in archive wine bottles.

Gastronomic pleasures are ensured by the young lady of the house, Mateja, with the help of her experienced mother, Verica. She will serve you select homemade dishes and local specialties such as meat dipped in a minced lard and pork mixture (tünka), zaseka spread, mushroom soup, roast duck, homemade sausages, black pudding, etc. You also must be sure to taste the prleška pogača flat cake made with buckwheat, cabbage, pumpkin and apples. You can then walk in the vineyards or cycle along the marked cycling trails (you can rent bicycles on the farm). When you go up hill and down dale, you will be rewarded by magnificent vistas. You can also cycle on the plains.
