Altitude: 260 m Farm size: 12 ha
The Tonin farm is situated in the small Istrian village of Puče, known for its springs and for its traditional festival called “Pučarska fjera”. If you visit the farm in summer, you can enjoy your meal on the terrace that offers a splendid view of the nearby olive grove and of the surrounding villages. Your hosts will offer you a wide range of delicious meat products such as prosciutto, salami, meat prepared under the peka (baking lid) and on the grill, homegrown vegetables and delicious jams. They base their menus on the seasonal products and make sure that vegetarians are well catered for as well. For those with a sweet tooth they offer pancakes with fig stuffing. Families with children are welcome on the farm where kids will enjoy the company of farmyard animals: donkeys, a german shepherd, a pony… There us also a playground, a goal and plenty of footballs. You can join your friendly hosts in grape picking or olive harvesting, hay making, harvesting and other work in the vineyard and the olive grove. The farm is an excellent starting point for walks in pristine nature. Those of you who like a slightly different take on sightseeing will appreciate a tour of the Dragonja river valley and the surrounding area in a jeep, an old military vehicle.
