About the farm
The village of Čadrg is located in the Triglav National Park at an elevation of 700 metres above sea level.
It is embraced by the Tolmin hills and has fewer than thirty inhabitants. The people there are truly in love with this piece of land under the hills that was first cultivated by their ancestors.
The Bončin family living on the Pri Lovrču farm with 29 hectares of meadows and pastures pursue organic animal husbandry and make sure that the pastures do not become overgrown. Their principal activity is the production of cow’s milk that is processed at the village cheese dairy into the well-known autochthonous cheese, Tolminc, and albumin cottage cheese. They market their products under the Biodar organic food trademark.
Even though animal husbandry and cheese making make for a lot of work, they are happy to take time for tourists who find their way into the village. They have arranged two apartments and will, with prior arrangement, serve their guests a lunch that is characteristic of the Tolmin hills. They also sell seasonal vegetables, walnuts and pear brandy.
The hosts will never say no to an offer of help with the farm work. They recommend that guests go see Mount Razor, the source of the Tolminka River and the Tolmin chutes, ascend Mount Javorca, visit Kobarid and take to the mountain cycling trails.
