About the farm
The sparkling wine cellar of the Istenič family is located in Stara vasa in Bizeljsko, right next to the Croatian border. It lies in an idyllic location surrounded by hills, where many vineyards bathe in the Sun.
The Istenič family was the first private producer of sparkling wine during the time of the former Yugoslavia and was already at that time making wine according to the classical method. Later, they developed this activity into a successful form of wine tourism, which they still pursue and nurture to this day. They devote a lot of attention to the culture of drinking sparkling wine, which they present to guests in words and in tastings. They serve their guests excellent wines with homemade cold cuts and will, by prior arrangement, even prepare warm dishes according to the Bizeljsko region’s culinary tradition. With the help of top level culinary experts, the family has linked the sparkling wines and wines with gastronomy, which is why their proprietary balsamic vinegar is a sort of logical continuation of the search and simultaneously the establishment of a comprehensive chain of products that round off their viticultural and tourist products.
Guests can stay at the Istenič family farm in six deluxe rooms. They can take to Bizeljsko Castle, the Slomšek Museum or the thermal spas of Terme Čatež, Rogaška Slatina or Terme Olimia by bicycle, on foot or by car.
