Cooking with master chef Dejan at the Dobrovc farm in Rečica ob Savinji

The Dobrovc farmstead lies in the hamlet of Poljane, not far from Rečica ob Savinji. The farm applies environmentally-friendly techniques and uses organic farming methods. The farm is also involved in tourism and organises various courses and workshops.

The Dobrovc family are renowned far and wide for their excellent cuisine which is based on local specialities and seasonal dishes.

The cuisine is the responsibility of son Dejan, a first-class young master chef. He trained in France and Slovenia and has attended Andrej Goljat's culinary workshops, and trained at the renowned JB restaurant in Ljubljana and the Primorka Strunjan restaurant. He has also attended dietetics, healthy nutrition and other culinary courses.

Dejan is keen to pass his cooking skills to others and has been holding culinary courses for many years. The Dobrovc family also organises cookery workshops lasting one and up to several days for their guests at the farm.

For an original and unique celebration, anniversary, gathering of classmates, friends or young housewives, eager to learn, choose a day with Dejan, chef extraordinaire.

Programme:

Healthy Wild Garlic Dishes

When you arrive at the farm, you will be welcomed by chef Dejan with a shot of home-made ginger liqueur or a glass of juice and home-made biscuits.

Dejan will first describe the workshop then take you on a tour of the farm. You will be taken to see the farm's deer, which you can feed with corn, their favourite fodder.

From there, you will be taken to the nearby forest to collect wild garlic. Dejan will instruct you on its medicinal properties and on what to look out for when collecting it.

Wild garlic has similar but better medicinal properties than garlic, for which reason it is becoming increasingly popular in folk medicine and cuisine. It boosts glands and the circulatory system, cleans the entire digestive and respiratory systems, works as a disinfectant and is a good agent against intestinal worms. It also cleanses the skin, gets rid of rashes and eczemas and accelerates the healing of wounds. Wild garlic has a beneficial effect on the whole body and its juice is said to heal wounds.

After returning from the forest, Dejan will help you make a variety of meals from wild garlic.

You will learn how to make appetisers, spreads, soups, main courses and side dishes. When the food is ready, it will be served for lunch.

Afterwards, you can store the spreads and pesto in small jars so that you may take them home together with the recipes for the dishes you prepared with Dejan at his workshops.

The price for the five-hour workshop is approx. EUR 25 per person.
The maximum number of persons per workshop is 15.

The hosts will be happy to cater to your needs and prepare other memorable experiences for your group. Your call and visit will be warmly received.
