About the farm
Farm access: Access: Leave the highway Ljubljana-Maribor at Slovenske Konjice and head towards Rogla. Keep to the road Zreče-Skomarje-Resnik and follow the waymarks.
A farm with the name of Kotnik was mentioned as far back as 700 years ago. A special feature of the Arbajter tourist farm is the deer and mouflons that graze and walk freely across the fenced in estate and pose for the guests’ cameras, who do not get to see these lovely animals every day.
It is a farm that is friendly to families and children, but also one at which they know what is good for healthy living. Adults come to the sunny side of Pohorje when they wish for a little good homemade food, peace, rest and quiet in the embrace of the Pohorje forests. They can also enjoy walks past the potable waters of Pohorje, gathering of herbs, fruits of the forest in the forest owned by the Arbajter family as well as views across the valley of Dravinjska dolina.
Families with children can make a shepherd’s cabin in the woods and look for the film characters Mojca and Kekec. They can learn how to spend a day in nature without a shop. They can enjoy the day playing with a puppy and kitten, a sheep or goat. They can go bathing at the Terme Zreče spa, ski on Rogla or see the lakes of Lovrenška jezera, etc.
Some of the specialties on the Arbajter farm are dishes made with venison, lamb meat, bread baked in a wood-fired bread oven, štruklji rolled dumplings with chives, potica cakes, various desserts, homemade jams and juices, deer, sheep and mouflon salamis and prosciutto, and quality blueberry liqueur (Borovniček). They can also prepare vegetarian and dietary food at the farm by prior arrangement. The young master of the house will cheer up the guests with the diatonic button accordion. Hikers can have their lunches or mixed venison cold cuts prepared for them by prior arrangement. The farm also offers presentations, tasting and viewing of the farm.
