About the farm
The homestead is located in Zgornje Jezersko, in the vicinity of the lake of Planšarsko jezero.
The Šenk homestead, the main edifice of which is thought to have been built in 1517, is an outstanding architectural marvel and has as such been protected as a cultural monument of national importance since 1949.
The hosts have enormous respect for natural and cultural heritage, which they strive to transpose into their culinary menu, which they have designed taking into account the rich shepherding tradition. A traveller, mountaineer or nature enthusiast will be served a masunjek, a hearty buttery porridge with sour milk, lamb sausages, Koroška-style buckwheat žganci with sauerkraut and similar homemade dishes, while they like to spoil the visitors with a sweet tooth a little with a flancati fried pastry, cottage cheese štruklji (rolled dumplings) and buhtlji (sweet yeast dough rolls) filled with homemade jam. All those who appreciate homemade food can fill their sacks with eggs, homemade jams and liqueurs. You can stay at wonderful apartments, rent a shepherd’s cabin or simply pitch a tent and become one with breath-taking nature. The owner, Drejc, designs very interesting leisure time programmes suitable for all ages and seasons.
The nearby peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps beckon those who are mountaineers at heart. If you fancy, you can take a trip on horseback. During the summer, children can spend their vacation at the equestrian camp, the kid’s nature camp, or experience the might of nature in the company of their parents. Another option is for the whole family to simply let go and enjoy the tranquillity, far removed from the noisy, fast-paced world.
